LEGEND STUDIO: Congratulation for success of your first screenplay.
MOHEN NAOREM: Thank you. It is a totally new script and I gave credit to my story writers, N Romesh and S Birjit as well as the Production team who work hard to provide all the spots and those scenes I want to include while writing the screenplay. I am happy to say we are the pioneer in bringing Kangla- the ancient site of our civilization, the promotion of Meetei Mayek and Irom Chanu Sharmila. It is the effort of our production team who support us to get all these important elements.
LEGEND STUDIO: What is the theme of School Karusi?
MOHEN NAOREM: The film is a complete entertainment and our target audience is mainly the students and youths. We have made it in such an intersting format that the film sould be easily marketable to other south Asian cities like Manila, Bangkok and Singapore. It is a school life story.
LEGEND STUDIO: What is the genre of the film?
MOHEN NAOREM: Edutainment (Education + Entertainment)
LEGEND STUDIO: What is the storyline in short?
MOHEN NAOREM: Koko is a Delhi returned boy who enrolled in one of teh premier schools of Manipur. Having brought up in metropolitan city, he imagined the school life boring and is not interested in studies. He found friend in Sana who is failure in the class and fantasize about his English teacher. Koko used the talents of his classmate, Chanu to do his homework. One day, one fo their classmate was murdered by unknown people and teh school remained closed for 2-3 months. Koko returend to Delhi for further studies and after 5 years again returned to meet his old friends. Then the story begins to choose thier own fate.
LEGEND STUDIO: It sounds a new story in Manipuri cinema. What you say?
MOHEN NAOREM: We would always try to do story which are real issues and which would represent the present crisis of the region in our screenplay. But we have to wait for some time to understand the audience who are after romance and remake of Sumang Leela (Manipuri Theatre) story.
LEGEND STUDIO: Yes, you have point out a striking point. These days, most of our filmamkers are in the habit of remaking. They used to take the story from Sumang Leela. What is your view on these trends?
MOHEN NAOREM: I would not comment on this and it is the choice of producers. However, I would liek to say we must justify to the script of Sumang Leela. I do not want the beauty and strong storyline fo these Sumang Leela to be downgrade with poor screenplay and direction.
LEGEND STUDIO: Okay. Mohen ... please share your future plans.
MOHEN NAOREM: We have been planning to do some social issue films in the coming years. That's it.
